“The second premise of our series is that there is a difference between being loved by God and having your life blessed by God.
See there are some of us who have been around religion a lot and we hear people say which is true. That God loves me and you think when you hear somebody say God loves me that here’s what you think. Because God loves me and cares so much about me I can go out and make decisions. That even if they end up being the wrong decisions I can come to God and because God loves me he will forgive me. Which is also true and once he forgives me he will just bless my life and forgive me. And everything in my life will start back over.
So I want to say to you just as clearly as I can God will give you a brand new start. And you can change your life from that point on and make a whole different set of choices. But, God will not cancel the consequences of the decisions that you have already made. In fact I want to read a verse in the Bible to you that is one of these verses I wish I could get stamped in all of our hearts. It was written by a guy named Paul. And he is writing to a church that he loved and started in a place called Galatia. So this is in the book of Galatians.
Here’s what he says. Do not be deceived. God can not be mocked. All he is saying to this group of people that he loves is look I know you think because God loves you and he does. You think God always got my back so I can go out and I can make stupid choices and I can fill up my sin bucket. And then I can come to God and I can dump out my bucket and say God forgive me of that. And he will empty it and I’m just good to go again. And he looks at you and say hey don’t be stupid. God can’t be mocked. You can’t treat God as if he doesn’t know what’s actually going on. He is god.”
